I was woken up this morning by a series of loud cracking sounds, and a few men hustling and shouting outside and wondering what in the world was it. I was a bit scared to be honest.
I hoped it was just fireworks, but coming from a place where this is banned, I can’t be sure…
So I checked in with my neighbour, also a foreigner still in pyjamas, who did not care a bit; then I went out and the air smelt smoky. On the road, there were some red and black boxes and paper lying around and okay, so it *is* the fireworks…
Later, I learnt that fireworks are allowed from 10AM till 2AM on New Year’s Eve. Nice.. although I still felt it kind of strange hearing all these cracking sounds (that goes BOM! B..B..B..BOM!) and the ground booming every 5 minutes while people go about their business like normal.
So, fireworks and rain was in Breda just before 2012!
Doesn’t sound like a pretty sight, but like the Chinese believe, water is good. Breda/Holland will be very very prosperous in 2012 🙂
Well, to end this off, what do I wish for the new year? Many more great surprises! Just like how I’m still surprised to be spending 2011 eve in Holland. Surreality setting in once again, hahaha!
Cheers and Ignite!!!
